Based in Italy. Working for You.

After 15 years translating legal, real estate, and citizenship documents for clients across the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK, one thing has stayed constant: the people who come to Natalia have something important at stake.

A property purchase. A citizenship application years in the making. A legal proceeding that cannot afford a mistake.

Italian authorities require translations sworn before an Italian court by a translator physically present in Italy. That is what Natalia provides — not a certified translation posted from abroad, but a legally valid sworn oath taken before an Italian tribunal.

She is also entirely independent. No citizenship packages, no agency commissions, no conflict of interest. If you need a genealogist, a citizenship lawyer, a notary, or a real estate agent, she will refer you to her vetted network — free of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions About English to Italian Translation

Q: Why do my documents need to be sworn by a translator based in Italy?
A:
Italian courts, notaries, and municipalities require translations to be sworn (asseverata) before an Italian tribunal by a translator physically present in Italy. A certified translation produced abroad — even with an apostille — does not satisfy this requirement and will be rejected.

Q: What documents do you translate?
A:
Vital records for dual citizenship (birth, marriage, death, divorce, baptism certificates), naturalisation records from NARA and USCIS (CONE, certificates of naturalisation, ship manifests, census records), court documents (CoNA, OATS, affidavits, powers of attorney), criminal records and FBI background checks, and real estate and relocation documents (property contracts, mortgage documents, tax returns, payslips, lease agreements, visa applications, school transcripts).

Q: How long does a sworn translation take?
A:
Standard turnaround is 7 business days per document set. Rush processing is available — mention your deadline when you get in touch.

Q: Do I need to send my original documents?
A:
No. Scans or PDFs are fine at quote stage. You only need to send originals when the sworn copy must be physically certified.

Q: Do you only work with Italian dual citizenship applications?
 A:
No. Natalia translates for legal proceedings, real estate transactions, visa and residency applications, mortgage applications, and any situation where English documents need to carry legal weight in Italy.

TESTIMONIALS

Natalia Bertelli
Natalia Bertelli Court appointed Translator, Sworn Translator, ATA member
What happens when you use the wrong translator — and how we fixed it.
„Over six months after submitting his paperwork for Italian citizenship, with translations of all required documents certified by a translator in the United States, my husband learned that the translations we had could not be accepted because they were not done by a certified Italian translator in Italy.
That’s when we found Natalia Bertelli. Within two days, she had reviewed the translations of all eleven documents, found a few errors that our US translation service had missed, certified the documents, and had them back in the hands of the comune official. Before the week was out, my husband got his official Italian citizenship“.
