Getting a Mortgage in Italy as a Foreigner - Documents Required

Do you want to buy property in Italy as a foreigner? Here's some useful information from the Bank of Italy.

As the Bank of Italy explains,
A mortgage is a medium- to long-term loan, usually with a duration of 5 to 30 years. The borrower generally receives the entire amount in a lump sum and repays it over time in fixed or variable instalments. A mortgage is used to buy, build or renovate a building, particularly residential property. A mortgage is secured by the property it is used to purchase.

While you can use the Bank's handy Guide to understand how to choose the right type of mortgage and what the consequences of it are, here's my infographic just for translation.

In Italy, you'll need translations for your identity, income and property documents. The kind of translation (simple or sworn) depends on the bank, but I can help you by getting in touch with them.

When you're buying your property, you'll do so through a Notarial deed. For that you'll need a written translation, plus an interpreter and one or two witnesses.

In both cases, it's crucial you work with a professional who's done this before, to ensure the whole process goes as smoothly as possible.

For any doubts, I'm right here!
